Bank Holiday Anime Event Guide

Posted by Tom Phillips

Planning a getaway this for the upcoming May Day Bank Holiday weekend? Well if you fancy something to suit your hobby then the Asahi Anime Festival in Brighton may be just the thing!

The weekend-long festival is held in The Opticon, Bartholomew Square and will feature several events including a Gothic Lolita fashion show, live music and competitions. There will also be stalls selling food, drink and Japanese snacks and crafts. There will also be events for children, such as face painting and colouring competitions, which will no doubt make for a great family atmosphere.  You will also be pleased to hear that the whole event is free!

For more information visit the Asahi Anime Festival here.

Also being held on the Bank Holiday is the twice annual Manga All-Nighter, part of the Sci-Fi- London Film Festival held at the Apollo Cinema in Piccadilly Circus, London. Beginning at midnight on the Saturday night (May 1st), the night will involve screenings of Redline, Musashi, Bleach: The Diamond Tast Rebellion and Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works.

For a cost of £30 you not only get to see the films, but also get free refreshments throughout the night and a goodie bag upon arrival.  Being an all-nighter also makes it a cheap event, since there is no need for a hotel, plus you will have the Bank Holiday Monday to catch up on sleep before going back to work!
