About The Show

Sam Beckett, a brilliant scientist, takes part in the Quantum Leap experiment which lands him in 1956 as a test pilot. With the help of his holographic 'Observer,' Sam remembers the experiment and learns that his fate is to 'quantum leap' back and forth in time with the hope of returning to his own present.

    The Leap Home Part 1

    Sam has been given the chance to save his father, brother and sister's lives when he leaps into himself at the age of sixteen in 1969, Elk Ridge, Indiana.

    Vietnam Part 2

    Sam is certain that he has been given the chance to save his brother's life when he leaps into Vietnam as a member of his brothers SEAL troop, but runs into complications when Al and Ziggy are unable to give him the facts as to how his brother actually died.

    Black on White on Fire

    The year is 1965 in Los Angeles...the time of Malcolm X and black awareness...and Sam, a black pre-med student, must keep his love for a white girl alive, despite a prejudice and anger surrounding them on the eve of the Watts riots.

    Glitter Rock

    When Sam Beckett leaps into the body of Geoffrey 'Tonic' Mole, the lead singer of the 70's English rock band named King Thunder, Sam's mission is to prevent the brutal stabbing of Tonic by an unknown assailant.

    Sam leaps into the body of thirteen year old Butchie Rickett, who must keep his mother from running out on her family.

    Miss Deep South

    Sam becomes a contestant in the Miss Deep South Beauty Pageant with the double task of insuring that he places third in the contest, while keeping a beautiful young girl from destroying her life by posing nude for a photographer.

    Rebel Without a Clue

    Sam becomes a member of a biker gang in the 1950's to stop the tragic and senseless death of a beautiful young girl obsessed with experiencing life and then ideologies expressed in Jack Kerouac's novel 'On The Road'.

    Sam takes his own life into his hands when he leaps into the body of Father Pistano, a young priest who must stop Father Mac from avenging Pistano's murder.

    One Strobe Over the Line

    Sam becomes a high-fashion photographer who must keep a model, to whom he is attracted, from overdosing on pills and alcohol.

  10. Episode 10

    The Boogieman

    The date is Halloween 1964 and Sam as Joshua Rey, a second-rate horror novelist, witnesses three bizarre, unexplainable murders which lead him into a deadly battle of wills with the devil himself.

    The Great Spontini

    Sam must perform a different kind of magic when he becomes Harry Spontini, and he must fight his estranged wife who wants to take custody of their daughter.

    A Little Miracle

    It is the night before Christmas, and Sam is working for Michael Blake, one of the richest men in the country, and he re-enacts Dickens' 'Scrooge' to remind his boss that there is more to life than material wealth, before a Salvation Army mission for the poor and destitute is demolished to make room for Blake Plaza.

    Sam Beckett leaps into the life of an 'exotic' dancer who must help a talented, deaf dancer avoid falling into a tragic life.

    Future Boy

    Sam becomes sidekick to Captain Galaxy, a popular 1957 children's TV character, in order to keep the actor who plays the Captain out of a mental institution due to his obsession with a time travel machine, which is curiously based on Sam's Quantum Leap theory.

    Piano Man

    Sam leaps into the body of a piano-lounge player who finds himself on the run, together with his former music partner, from a mob killer who wants the lounge lizard eliminated.

  16. Episode 16

    8 1/2 Months

    Sam Beckett must labour to make things right when he leaps into the body of an unwed, pregnant teenager, and he must find a way for her to keep the baby.

  17. Episode 17

    Southern Comforts

    Sam leaps into the body of a pimp running a New Orleans bordello, and he is called on to save one of the women in the house from an unseemly demise.

  18. Episode 18

    Last Dance Before an Execution

    Sam's mission is to be Jesus Ortega, who, along with his accomplice Raul Casta, is held on Florida's death row for the robbery and murder of a priest, Father Torrelli. Enlisting the help of a power house new female attorney, Tearsa Lorrea, Jesus Ortega attempts to clear himself of the murder charges.

    A Hunting We Will Go

    Sam leaps into the body of bounty hunter Gordon O'Reilly who has prisoner Diane Frost, wrongly accused of embezzling a million dollars, in his custody.

  20. Episode 20

    Heart of a Champion

    Sam finds himself up against two-300 lb. wrestlers known as the Shiloh Boys. Sam must find a way to stop Ronnie from entering the ring.

  21. Episode 21

    Nuclear Family

    Sam Beckett leaps into the body of a nineteen year old college student in Oklahoma to stop his older brother from shooting their neighbour for breaking into their atom bomb shelter.

  22. Episode 22

    Shock Theatre

    Sam leaps into a mental institution and is soon electro-shocked into manifesting multiple personalities from his previous personas.

Characters

  • Business classes at the University of Kansa bored Bakula, who returned to St. Louis after a year to work in community theatre and then moved to New York to try his luck and soon was cast in 'Shenandoah.' His off-Broadway credits include 'Accentuate the Positive' and 'Three Guys Naked from the Waist Down,' and he debuted on Broadway as Joe DiMaggio in ' Marilyn: An American Fable.'

    Bakula moved to Los Angeles in 1986 to star on stage in 'Nite Club Confidential.' He won guest-starring roles in such television series as 'On Our Own' and 'My Sister Sam' and starred in the TV movies 'The Last Fling' and 'The Infiltrator' and in the Disney Sunday Night Movie 'I-Man.'

  • After graduating from high school at 16, Stockwell left Hollywood. 'I cut my hair off, changed my name and disappeared into the countryside. I took odd jobs for five year; then when I ran out of things to do, I went back into the business to try again.'

    Successful again, he starred in the film classics 'Compulsion,' 'Sons and Lovers' and 'Long Day's Journey Into Night' before quitting show business a second time. 'In the '60s, when we had hippies and Haight-Ashbury, I dropped out of my career and just went with that,' he says. 'I found it fulfilling because didn't have much of a childhood.'

    The next time back in Hollywood, there were occasional roles, but it wasn't until Stockwell married his wife Joy, started a family and moved to new Mexico, that he found himself in demand. 'I think I have my best work ahead of me,' he says, 'and now I can enjoy it.'
