Characters

  • Dr. Will Zimmerman (ROBIN DUNNE) is a brilliant forensic psychiatrist who gained stature while working with the Federal authorities. A master of behavioral science, he can translate the most veiled human signals into case-breaking deductions. Problem is, no one believes him. His fascination with alternative and otherworldly explanations for horrific crimes has cost him the respect of his peers - and his job.

He is recognized as a good man with an inarguable talent for psychiatry and analysis. However, his inability to submit to the status quo of crime investigation has resulted in demotions and a mundane affiliation with Homicide in Old City.

Swift with a clever quip, usually in an effort to redirect an awkward situation, Will is instantly likable. Upon joining Magnus in her work at the Sanctuary, Will discovers a new and strange world that is both logically unbelievable yet intuitively plausible to him. While ahead of his time, and at least partially open to the world of 'abnormals' he reacts to the unusual and fantastical in a way we can all understand.

The team quickly learns that Will is less than comfortable with a gun, but Magnus is certain his instinct and genuine thirst to know the truth will prove invaluable in her fascinating work.

  • The beautiful and enigmatic Dr. Helen Magnus (AMANDA TAPPING) has devoted her life to the practical research of cutting edge medicine and science. The daughter of the most brilliant and controversial medical researcher of his day, she was exposed early on to her father's secret laboratory. He further taught her the wonders of his world, knowing these revelations would change her forever.

Well over a century later, Magnus runs the Sanctuary where she tracks, protects and learns from the extraordinary and paranormal creatures that inhabit our world.

Although dismissed as monstrous figments of our imaginations and the stuff of our childhood nightmares, Magnus recognizes that the world is full of nature's mistakes and triumphs. And she has the spectacular proof that they are indeed real. For some 'abnormals', Magnus becomes their protector. And for a dangerous few, she is their captor.

Magnus is bold and straightforward, brave and no-nonsense, yet she remains proudly true to her formal Victorian English sensibilities. She adores her daughter Ashley, respecting her independence and self-reliance - but that doesn't preclude some occasional mother-daughter friction.

Magnus's past is long and colorful... as one would expect from a life lasting 157 years. The secret to her seemingly eternal youth is but one of many mysteries hidden within the walls of the Sanctuary.

  • The mysterious John Druitt (CHRISTOPHER HEYERDAHL) enters the world of Sanctuary quite literally in a flash. His sinister presence is palpable and his strength and power thus far unmatched. Able to appear and disappear at will, he is unlike any 'abnormal' we've yet encountered.

Sharing a past with Dr. Helen Magnus, his unexpected return to her life shakes her steady demeanor, as she knows all too well of his extraordinary capabilities and strength. But there is also a depth to Druitt that is hidden among the secrets of his history and his personal connection to Magnus.

  • Ashley (EMILIE ULLERUP) is yin to Will's yang in the Sanctuary's dual agenda of "preserve and protect." Arrestingly beautiful, she is tough as nails, physically adept and a skilled fighter making her perfectly suited to her calling as monster-hunter supreme. Ashley has moments of vulnerability but it's a side she deftly covers with a veneer of bravado and fearlessness.

Growing up in the world of the Sanctuary with her mother, Dr. Helen Magnus, she has come to accept the impossible as a matter of course. And while there are the usual generational sparks between mother and daughter, Ashley is acutely respectful of her mother's work and knowledge.

  • One of Magnus's employees at the Sanctuary, Henry (RYAN ROBBINS) is an uber-geek of the cool variety, a weapons designer and computer expert. His skill and intelligence with all things technical keep the Sanctuary at maximum security... most of the time.

Not one to be shy, Henry doesn't hesitate to speak his mind and always has a witty remark at the ready for anyone who will listen. He is smart-mouthed, sarcastic, and undeniably brilliant. But like most residents of the Sanctuary, there is more to Henry than meets the eye.

  • The Fossman rocks

Can I just say, Ryan Robbins playing Henry Foss rocks. I love geeky werewolves.

Was a little dissapointed with the lack of werewolf Henry in season 2, ah well, Season 3, there's always season 3

As a great Doctor once uttered

    Allons-y

  • Can't wait for season 3

Can't wait for season 3, September hurrrry!

Kali ended with such a cliff hanger I keep thinking of  what will happen.

I wonder if Christopher Heyerdahl (Name spelt right?) Will come back, and i'm hoping more people from SG will participate like Michael Shanks  ;D

  • But....he's in it every week

But....he's in it every week as Big Guy isn't he

  • Sanctuary Season 3

You will be pleased to know that according to IMDb there will be a Season 3 out at the end of Sept- beginning of Oct in the US.

  • about season 2

About the second season, I have seen all the episodes, but the last one, kali part two, in the end it isnt over, to be continued it says!

so either there is one more episode of season two that I simply cannot find, or there must be a third season, I certainly hope so, I love this show! And Robin Dunne is so freakin' hot!! :P

    Could watch HIM all day!!

    Warrior Angel 397

  • I watched the whole of season

I watched the whole of season 1, and then found Sanctuary on another channel and watched them, I had'nt seen these episodes so I watched the 3 episodes they aired and then season 2 was advertised, these episodes were set in India where Will has a bug crawl inside him and they cant save him.

Now either i'v seen the end of season 2, missed some of season 1 or have missed a season altogether. What's going on?

  • what youve missed

What you described watching is the last couple of episodes in Season 2, you've missed all the other episodes in that season but none of Season 1

  • I love this show :) Hopefully

I love this show :) Hopefully there'll be another season after this one

  • one think this show is sooooooooooooooo coool and one caN'T WAIT FOR SEASON 2 TO STAR THAT WILL BE ALL

  • Loving season 2 so far, including the whole Ashley storyline. Some very bold and interesting decisions, and I love that they've carried on the repercussions from End of Nights right through the season. The characters are only getting better, and the show has really begun to find its feet. I love that.

  • i loved season one but season two has been a let down they arent even using proper sets its all done really badly by computer. as reguards to ashley it was such a build up and then she was gone what was all that about? bring back ashley and amanda is wasted in this programme she is bigger than the show. if the cheapness and lack of plot carrys on into the third series im afraid i wont be watching it

  • you are all pish posh the show is awsome and i love and gess what im 15 and i loovvee this show do amanda do your thing you realy represent us girls and women wohooooo

  • SORRY I MEAN SEASON 3

  • season 2 is excellent have seen up to episode 10 and cant wait for the rest

  • I agree, what has happened to this show? It's a chaotic mess with seemingly no plot at all. They've killed off Ashley just as her character got interesting and have replaced her with this Kate person that has absolutely no reason to be there. Why did they all suddenly trust this criminal? No explanation, just sudden unquestionable trust. If this continues, I won't be wasting my time on Season 3. They need to bring Ashley back and get rid of the cheap hoodlum.

  • Awesome show LOVE IT, cant wait for rest of season 2 and season 3

  • This new season hits the ground running, but afraid goes down hill fast. but hey Amanda looks good.

  • Amanda looks really hot in these pictures!

  • I have to disagree... I think that season 2 has only got better and better! The storylines are incredible and I think it was brave of them to kill off Ashley - it was the only thing to do without it becoming predictable. The acting is second to none and I cant wait for the rest of season 2 :) Bring on a third season as well!!

  • Love the show. Can't wait for season 2 to start!!!!

  • WILL THIS SHOW GO DOWN HILL PEOPLE WILL HAVE TO SEE AND AMANDA I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO U BE MY BABY

  • Been watching season 2 i'm afraid the quality has dropped and the, cheapness ,of the series is starting to show plus the introduction of the Kate Freelander character makes absolutely no sense this apparent runaway without any military training or background or military experiance,is working as a mercenary if that's the case i'd become one!Amanda Tapping still is very good but the pointless introduction of Agam Darshi's character and other poor plotlines have possibly damaged the show's future.

  • I'm loving season 2 , more please bring on the 3rd
