Characters

  • Tom Welling, familiar to television audiences from a recurring role on "Judging Amy," makes his series-starring debut in "Smallville" as a teenage Clark Kent struggling to come to grips with his emerging superpowers.

Born and raised in New York, Welling is fairly new to the acting world. He performed in a few high school theatre productions before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a professional career.

His first big break was landing six episodes on "Judging Amy" last season, playing opposite Amy Brenneman in a romantic role that drew raves. He landed the role of Clark after the producers conducted a nationwide search.

When not working, Welling enjoys reading, playing basketball with friends and running.

  • Self-assured and possessed of a rapid-fire wit, Michael Rosenbaum shaved his thick hair for the role he seems born to play: a young Lex Luthor in "Smallville." Born in Oceanside, New York, and raised in Newburgh, Indiana, Rosenbaum excelled in high school drama classes. Once hooked, he took on lead roles in college stage productions such as "The Heidi Chronicles" while attending Western Kentucky University and performing in regional theatre during his summers.

Upon graduating with a degree in mass communications and theatre, he packed his bags and headed for New York to pursue acting. He quickly landed roles in off-Broadway productions and small independent films, and he soon segued into regular appearances on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" in a sketch called "The Amsterdam Kids."

His first real break came when he got a regular role on The WB's comedy series "The Tom Show," with Tom Arnold. The relationship with the network continued as he was cast as Jack in the New York comedy "Zoe, Duncan, Jack & Jane."

Most recently, Rosenbaum appeared on the big screen in "Sweet November," which starred Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron. Rosenbaum can be seen starring in the college comedy "Sorority Boys," opposite Harland Williams and Barry Watson (The WB's "7th Heaven"), and he plays the lead role in the independent drama "Poolhall Junkies," with Christopher Walken, Rick Schroder and Chazz Palminteri. Rosenbaum also starred in the hit thriller "Urban Legend" and appeared in "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Kevin Spacey and John Cusack.

Rosenbaum currently resides in Los Angeles. When not working, he belongs to an ice hockey league. He has played the sport since childhood and is a dedicated New York Rangers fan.

  • A fresh face to American television viewers, Kristin Kreuk was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. She began acting in plays in high school but mostly focused on her schoolwork rather than the stage. Fate came calling at the beginning of her senior year, when a casting director looking for new talent for the television series "Edgemont" tapped Kreuk for a starring role. It was her first professional audition.

Since then, she has starred on the series for two seasons and has continued her role while filming "Smallville" in her hometown of Vancouver. She will also be seen this spring starring in the title role of the television movie "Snow White," opposite Miranda Richardson.

Kreuk currently lives with her family in Vancouver and, when not working, enjoys reading and spending time with friends.

  • Allison Mack has already amassed numerous credits, spanning lighthearted comedies to serious dramatic roles. She was born in Germany but moved with her family to Southern California at the age of 2, beginning her acting career at age 4 with print work and commercials. At 7, she began studying at The Young Actors Space in Los Angeles, where she currently attends classes in improvisation and scene study.

Mack got the chance to display her comedic flair as a series regular on "Hiller and Diller," working alongside comedy greats Richard Lewis, Kevin Nealon and Eugene Levy, and she also starred in the comedy "Opposite Sex." Previously, Mack guest starred in a highly rated and critically praised episode of The WB's family drama "7th Heaven," portraying a teen caught up in the devastating trend of "cutting" (self-mutilation). She can also be seen on Kids' WB! in two episodes of the R.L. Stine series "The Nightmare Room."

Additionally, Mack has starred in many prestigious movies for television, including the recent cable film "My Horrible Year," directed by Eric Stoltz and starring Karen Allen, Mimi Rogers and Stoltz. She appeared in "A Private Matter," with Sissy Spacek and Aidan Quinn; "Living a Lie," with Peter Coyote and Jill Eichenberry; "Unlikely Angel," with Dolly Parton and Roddy McDowall; "Stolen Memories: Secrets from the Rose Garden," starring Mary Tyler Moore and Linda Lavin; and "A Mother's Revenge."

On the big screen, Mack appeared in "Camp Nowhere" and starred in the video release "Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves."

An accomplished dancer and singer, Mack enjoys reading, going to movies and plays and spending time with her friends and family.

  • Having been in Hollywood only two years, Sam Jones III is already making quite a name for himself. He recently completed leading roles in two feature films, "Zigzag" and "Snipes," as well as guest starring in several television series. His role as Pete marks his series-starring debut.

Growing up in Boston, Massachusetts, Jones acted in local commercials. After spending a summer vacation with a friend living in Los Angeles, he caught the showbiz bug and decided to pursue a career in acting. Soon after he graduated from high school, Jones moved to Hollywood to follow his dream.

His first job was a memorable guest-starring role on "NYPD Blue," in which he portrayed a troubled teen who stole a gun and hid it in his daughter's crib. From there, Jones' career began to grow. His credits include an emotionally charged recurring role on "C.S.I.: Crime Scene Investigation," in which he played a teen who accidentally kills a girl and then watches as his grandfather attempts to take the blame. He also guest starred on "Judging Amy," as a sexually abused teen who gets mixed up in a drive-by shooting. Jones appears in two episodes of the R.L. Stine series "The Nightmare Room," on Kids' WB!

On the big screen, Jones is poised to make an auspicious debut. In the gritty independent drama "Zigzag," he plays the autistic 15-year-old title character, opposite Wesley Snipes as his crack-addicted father. The film also stars Oliver Platt, Natasha Lyonne and John Leguizamo as his terminally ill mentor. Jones also stars in the upcoming independent crime drama "Snipes," playing opposite rapper Nelly and Dean Winters ("Oz").

When he is not working, Jones spends his time on the basketball court. He relocated from Los Angeles to Vancouver for the filming of "Smallville."

  • John Schneider is a multitalented performer with credits spanning television, film, music and the stage. Best known for his role as Bo Duke on the popular television series "The Dukes of Hazzard," Schneider stars in "Smallville" as Jonathan Kent, father to the teenage Clark Kent.

Schneider starred for six seasons as one of the fast-driving, fun-loving cousins of the Duke clan on the hugely popular '80s comedy-adventure series "The Dukes of Hazzard." He recently reprised his beloved role in the television movie "The Dukes of Hazzard: Hazzard in Hollywood." Schneider was also a series regular on the family drama "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" and the syndicated drama "Heaven Help Us."

Schneider has starred in numerous original television movies, including "Michael Landon, the Father I Knew," "True Women," "Night of the Twisters," "The Legend of Ruby Silver," "Texas" and "Desperate Journey." He also lends his voice to a lead character in Kids' WB!'s animated series "The Mummy."

  • Annette O'Toole played Lana Lang, the girl Clark Kent left behind in his youth, in the big-screen feature "Superman III." Now, she takes her new place in the Superman saga playing Clark Kent's mother, Martha, in the new action-adventure series "Smallville."

Born in Houston, Texas, O'Toole started dancing at the early age of 3. At 13, she moved with her family to Los Angeles, and she began taking acting lessons. Her first big break came when she starred in the 1975 feature film "Smile," as a conniving beauty pageant contestant. Comments

  • I didnt know Smallville had started up again I've missed soe now I'm well gutted

  • Does anyone read these comments??? Explanation please Sci-Fi??????

  • What just happened???? I seemed to have lost some episodes. From watching the last one all the VoiceOver said was it'd return on Monday but these are old episodes. sort it out Sci Fi channel.

  • Why does SCI-FI not respond to viewer comments?

  • on monday 21/12/09 they should of showed episodes 20 + 21 of season 2 called witness and accelerate but for some reason they aired the first two episodes of season 1. then on 22/12 they aired episodes 22 + 23 the final two of season 2 so it looks like someone messed up ? Besides why not get on with series 3 instead of repeating from the start again after all there are nine seasons or why not put repeats on just at the weekend ??

  • Have followed this avidly since seeing sci fi were going to play the full series' from the start, I have watched every episode without fail up until last night, where are the last episodes of season two, and why are you rerunning series one, when you haven't finished series two and where is season three???? The tv schedules are advertising the correct episodes so why aren't you showing them!!!!! How hard a job can it be????

  • thanks for airing season one episodes when it should have been season two

  • I think they just showed the wrong episodes. They should be showing the Pilot on Wednesday but incorrectly showed it on Monday!! Not sure if they will somehow correct this!!

  • What happened to S2 E20 & 21 (we got S1 E1 & 2) today?

  • Why have I missed 3 episodes 19, 20 and 21 and why are thay going back to S1 and not going to S3 is this becouse of Xmas

  • I agree with the re-scheduling comment, I only managed to notice as was flicking through my sky plus planner. Still think I've missed a couple though. I also would now like to see season 3. if you advertise the show as Smallville from the beginning then show the seasons in order.

  • yeah thanks a bunch for rescheduling season 2 right before the end so that I missed two episodes tonight!! And now it appears that you're going to run season 1 again instead of season 3 - way to go sci-fi channel...a great way to treat your viewers.

  • Whats happened to the last couple of episodes its really annoying when it goes back to the first season half way through another season it did it on Angel a couple of months ago. Its rediculous and getting really annoying I want to see the rest of season two and the rest because the shows really good.

  • id like to watch season 3 now please not season one

  • Just like to add my anger to the above comments. Have followed avidly since S1 re-run started, and thanks to the mess-up have now missed eps 20 & 21, I think. And why no news of S3??

  • at least let us know if your gonna show season 3 soon.

  • It would appear from the schedules that Season 3 will begin 11/01/2010 at 6pm. so not only haver they not bothered to say when it's on but have brought it forward two hours aswell. Just to add my bit. Not happy about missing two episodes as I've followed this from the start. Get your act together Sci Fi!!!

  • I agree with all the comments. Have avidly recorded and watched all the episodes. Then suddenly out of the blue a couple of episodes appeared from S1!!!
