BLACK PANTHER CAST STUNS WITH ROYAL PREMIERE LOOKS
The dress code on the invitations to today's Black Panther premiere at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles simply stated "royal attire requested" and boy did the film's cast deliver. The already gorgeous group of actors and actresses arrived on the premiere's Purple Carpet decked out in brilliantly vibrant colors and accessories worthy of African royalty.

Among those in attendance were the film's star, Chadwick Boseman, who plays Marvel's own version of royalty, the King of Wakanda and newest Black Panther, T'Challa. Boseman, Angela Bassett, Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong'o, along with fellow Marvel star Mike Coulter, and a slew of purple carpet guests offered their own interpretation of the theme, several donning various colorful dashikis, a traditional West African tunic.
Many of the women in attendance, like star Lupita Nyong'o, combined the royal theme with a more traditional kind of Hollywood glamor. The actress, who stars as Nakia, a member of the fierce Dora Milaje, wore a stunning purple Versace gown embellished with a brilliant gold embroidered bodice, neck and shoulder piece. Nyong'o's stylist said the ensemble was meant to evoke her character's warrior side. In the film, the Dora Milaje are a highly trained group of female special forces and are expected to be represented heavily when it hits theaters on February 16th.
Ruth E. Carter, who oversaw the intricate attire of all the residents of Wakanda as the film's costume designer said of the event, "How best to get the party started than to, on premiere night, have the cast, have the crew, have the directors and everybody participate in this explosion of patterns and African prints? Everyone can join in the fun!"
