Kirk's outfit during historic Star Trek kiss, plus Batman's Bat Shield and more for sale in new Prop Store auction

Presented by: Jeff Spry

Prop Store, the London and Los Angeles-based auction house that brought us the geektastic Entertainment Memorabilia gala that sold Indy's fedora for a cool $424,000, is back for another nostalgia-fueled event in December and SYFY WIRE has a jump on all the action with exclusive images of some of the desirable items up for bid.

On Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. PST, 400 lots from the collection of world-renowned curator James Comisar will be up on the blocks, showcasing rare original costumes, production props, and set decorations from iconic TV shows from the 1960s-2010s. The live event will occur at Prop Store’s auction facility in Valencia, California, but fans not attending can place bids online or by phone.

This U.S. TV memorabilia auction will feature many items brought to the market for the first time, and includes such treasure artifacts as an orange Grecian chiton and gold belt worn by William Shatner as Captain Kirk during that historic inter-racial kiss with Uhura from Star Trek; Batman's Bat Shield; Frank Gorshin's Green Riddler Jacket from the classic Batman TV show; Robin Williams' Mork and Mindy Egg Spaceship; Howard Stern's MTV Fartman Costume; an acid-burned head from The X-Files; an original Twilight Zone "Pig "Snout" from the "Eye of the Beholder" episode; Laura Palmer's red casket in Twin Peaks; Uncle Martin's sleek spaceship from My Favorite Martian, and more.

“I have spent 30 years trying to create a museum that honors television’s rich history, and until that can be realized, I want to share with collectors-turned-caretakers, who have always celebrated these shows and valued their materials," Comisar said in Prop Store's official press release. "These days, few would argue TV’s enduring nature or its emotional hold, and my hope is the objects can live on as long as the shows are streaming through our lives.”
