About The Show

Good quality sci-fi sitcoms are thin on the ground, but we're delighted to say that 3rd Rock from the Sun still has every ounce of manic energy and quirky wit that it had when it was first broadcast. Indeed, not only did John Lithgow get nominated for the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series Emmy every year that 3rd Rock aired (winning three out of the six), but he has also claimed two Oscar nominations in his time. Not bad.

    Dick decides to hold a fashion show to raise enough money to have the statue of Admiral Pendleton restored.

    Four aliens land on Earth and assume human forms. Dick experiences human emotion and becomes attracted to a professor who shares his office.

    Post Nasal Dick

    The aliens are all convinced they are dying when they get common human colds. Later, Dick attends a wedding, in spite of his sniffles.

    Dick's First Birthday

    After the excitement of his first birthday, Dick struggles to come to terms with getting old and tries to reverse the aging process.

    Dick Is From Mars, Sally Is From Venus

    Sally experiences passion when she goes out on a date, but she can't handle being rejected. Meanwhile, Tommy is having issues with authority.

    Dick, Smoker

    Sally becomes upset when, after her first date, the phone doesn't ring. Mary and Nina to take her out to drown her sorrows.

    Green-eyed Dick

    Harry adopts a stray puppy, while Dick flies into a jealous rage after Dr. Albright's ex-boyfriend shows up.

    Sally decides to learn the art of personal grooming, and even Harry gets involved! Meanwhile, Dick is feeling lonely while Dr. Albright is away.

    Tommy has relationship issues when a cheerleader appears on the scene, while Dick has the tricky task of speaking at a funeral.

    Dick invites Mary's brother Roy to dinner, who tells a tale about being abducted by aliens. Sally offers an extreme solution to shut him up!

    While Dick agrees to attend a meeting in Dr. Albright's absence, he discovers that telling the absolute truth can sometimes backfire.

    The Art of Dick

    Harry discovers a hidden talent when he takes up painting, while Sally's taking charge at the school bake sale - and taking no prisoners!

    Frozen Dick

    While the Solomons have their first taste of snow, Dick gets caught in the storm on his way to Chicago with Dr. Albright.

    Angry Dick

    When the Solomons meet the neighbours, Sally finds friendship with Mrs. Muller, but Dick is disgruntled by Mr. Muller's attitude.

    The Dicks They Are A Changin

    Reminiscing about her rebellious time in the sixties, Mary concludes that Dick is actually an activist who is hiding from the FBI.

    I Enjoy Being A Dick

    Sally and Harry get jobs to earn a bit of money, while Dick humiliates Dr. Albright when he attends her women's study group.

    Dick Like Me

    After the Solomons realise they are not part of an ethnic group, Dick decides to be Italian as they're renowned for being sexy.

    Assault With a Deadly Dick

    The aliens become more security conscious when their car radio is stolen and Dick gets mugged at an ATM.

    Father Knows Dick

    While Dick offers Harry some fatherly love, Sally is having issues with Mr. Randall's mother.

    Selfish Dick

    During a trip to the hospital, the Solomons are reminded of their favourite TV doctors. Meanwhile, Dick sulks when Mary gets a new office.

    See Dick Run

    Just when Dick finally starts dating Dr. Albright, he gets locked in his basement by a doppelganger from his home planet!

Characters

  • John Lithgow has had quite an extraordinarily varied career over the last forty years, on stage and screen. He had major roles in Brian DePalma's thrilling Blow Out, Twilight Zone: The Movie (playing the same role as fellow 3rd Rock actor William Shatner), Terms of Endearment, Footloose, Harry and the Hendersons, Memphis Belle, Raising Cain, Cliffhanger, and many more.

  • The leggy, busty, brassy blonde bombshell of the group, Sally Solomon is actually only female because her original (asexual) alien form lost a bet! Nevertheless, while the female of the human species is understandably even tougher to work out than the male, she soon starts to revel in it.

  • In a show about aliens in human form, struggling to get used to our bizarre Earth ways, Harry Solomon is unquestionably the one that struggles more than any other. Perpetually squinty-eyed and perplexed, and utilising French Stewart's prodigious skills with physical comedy to the utmost, Harry somehow manages to blunder his way into the hearts of a string of women. Artistic or autistic? It's a fine line...

  • Being a kid pretending to be an alien pretending to be a kid can't be the easiest gig in the world, but Gordon-Levitt carries it off with aplomb. Tommy Solomon is, in fact, the oldest alien of the group, but nevertheless stuck in the youngest body. The sagacity of his years, mixed with the unstable alchemy of teen hormones, makes for an intriguing and hilarious combination!

  • The long-suffering colleague of Dick Solomon, Mary of course ends up rather infatuated with the great big loon. So much more than just a 'straight man' to the wacky alien antics, she is one of Dick's prime sources of information about humanity, whether she realises it or not. A lifelong student of the human condition, it's no wonder Dick confuses and intrigues her!

    The dvd(s) for 3rd rock from the sun is already out, they have the enitre complete box set out too. I would recommend looking online for a cheaper price than retail prices in high street stores.
