Buffy gains a younger sister; Dawn - but where did she come from and why?
BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER celebrates its landmark 100th episode in its fifth season.
New to the cast this season is Michelle Trachtenberg (Harriet the Spy), who plays Buffy’s 14-year-old sister Dawn. Unseen in the show and in Buffy’s life up to this point, the bizarre mystery of Dawn’s existence will slowly unfold and adds a twist to Buffy’s reality.
After last season’s college freshman disorientation, the demon-fighting gang will come together to fight a new nemesis…and tackle the dreaded sophomore slump. With best friends Willow (Alyson Hannigan, American Pie) and Xander (Nicholas Brendon, Psycho Beach Party) and new boyfriend Riley Finn (Marc Blucas, Summer Catch) at her side, Buffy jumps in with both feet to learn more about her slayer roots and fulfill her destiny.
Buffy’s mentor and guide to the unknown evils that lurk among us has been Rupert Giles (Anthony Stewart Head, VR.5, Taster’s Choice commercials), the resident expert on all things evil. This season, Buffy will ask Giles to formally resume his duties as her Watcher. Rounding out what has been affectionately called the "Scooby" gang is Spike (James Marsters, The House on Haunted Hill), a surly English vampire; and Anya, (Emma Caulfield, Beverly Hills, 90210), Xander’s jealous, 1,120-year-old, former-demon girlfriend.
