Characters

  • Troy Tempest

Troy Tempest was born in New York City on 04/01/ 2038 and educated at the World Navy Academy, San Diego, California, and volunteered for the submarine service upon graduating.

In 2060 whilst on a patrol for the World Navy he was captured by enemy forces and was sentenced to be executed.

Whilst awaiting execution, Tempest was rescued by a group of mercenaries led by George Lee Sheridan, a meeting which was to lead to a lasting lifelong friendship between the two.

In 2064 Tempest was promoted to the rank of Captain and seconded to the World Aquanaut Security Patrol base at Marineville, where he was given command of the submarine Stingray, replacing the injured Captain Bradley Holden who, after recovering from his injuries, joined Spectrum under the codename Captain Grey.

Tempest maintains an interest in oceanography and his off duty hobbies include sailing and underwater plant horticulture.

Has romantic links with Lt Atlanta Shore, the daughter of WASP Commander Sam Shore and Marina, an aquaphibian and daughter of Aphony, the ruler of the underwater city of Pacifica.

  • Phones

Christened George Lee Sheridan, "Phones" was born in South Carolina on 15/09/2034 and as a child was always fascinated by radio. Orphaned during his early teens he dropped out of school and led the life of a drifter eventually becoming a mercenary, during which time he became a self taught expert in communication engineering.

In 2060 he led a group of mercenaries on a job which led to the rescue of Troy Tempest, a naval officer who was awaiting execution by hostile enemy forces who had captured him during an unsuccessful mission for the World Navy.

This rescue led to a lifelong friendship between the two men and Sheridan enrolled on a communications course at the World Navy Academy in San Diego where he obtained a degree in communications engineering with honours after only one year.

Like Tempest, he volunteered for the submarine service after graduation, and he rose rapidly through the ranks to become a lieutenant and after transferring to W.A.S.P was assigned to Stingray to become the hydrophone operator at the suggestion of his friend Troy Tempest.

He gained his nickname "Phones," due to his skill with the hydrophones. (Short range sonar equipment)

  • Marina

Marina was born on 28/05/2046 in the underwater city of Pacifica. She is the daughter of Aphony, ruler of Pacifica, a huge underwater shell city. She is highly intelligent and artistic and is a gifted musician. Her mother died when she was 8 marine years old.

She was captured by Titan, the tyrannical ruler of Titanica, who had enslaved her for a year and from whom she was rescued by Troy Tempest & "Phones," after she had helped them escape from captivity and impending execution during W.A.S.P's first face to face encounter with the undersea world.

She remained with W.A.S.P after her rescue and is the "unofficial" 3rd member of Stingray and frequently joins Troy & "Phones" on the Stingray missions where her expert knowledge of the underwater world is invaluable.

Marina is mute and remains so due to being sworn to silence by Titan, who threatened to destroy her people & city if she ever spoke again. She communicates with her own people by mental telepathy and with the land dwellers by using sign language.

Marina is an Amphibian, and like most other underwater races is able to breathe equally well on land and in the sea and it is believed her race is the result of the union between man & mermaid.
